Pastor Patrick “Packy” Thompson was born in Houma, La. in 1963; although raised in the small town of Jena, La. His parents pastored a church in Jena while Packy and his siblings were growing up. He married his lovely wife, Janet Gulde in 1986. They have 3 children named Trey, Joshua and Amanda.
For much of his teenage years Packy ran from the call of God in his own life but then surrendered fully to God’s plan and purpose. He attended Bible College in Baton Rouge, La. and received his license to minister through the Assemblies of God in 1986. After the couple was married they ministered with his family at Maranatha Assembly of God where Janet was involved in the music ministry and ministered also through tent revivals. For a period of three years they served on Staff in Eunice, La., where they served in multiples areas such as Chi Alpha, Royal Rangers, Bus Ministry and Youth Pastors.
He was elected as Senior Pastor at Bayou Blue Assembly of God in 1993 and they have served together in ministry since that time. They are an anointed team as Janet is a tremendous worship leader while Pastor Packy’s unique deliverance of God’s message to His people is one of holiness and relevance in today’s society! Under his leadership, Bayou Blue Assembly of God has grown from 29 members to a congregation of more than 800 today.
Home and Foreign Missions is very important to him. His vision is to reach the entire world with the gospel of Jesus Christ and in doing so fulfilling the Great Commission. He desires to continue to grow the church by loving God, loving people and reaching the lost! He wants to take this opportunity to personally invite you to come and be a part of our church family!
