Welcome to Pastor Packy's Daily Bread
I think many of us don’t see Jesus as he truly is. I know a lot of people who only see Jesus as that baby in a manger. That child that the wise men brought the gifts to, or the 12 year old who was left in Jerusalem for three days talking to the leaders in the temple. Some think of Jesus as that teacher who went around doing good deeds for people. There are still others who only see Jesus as the man crucified for lost humanity. They can’t see who Jesus is because of looking back at who he was. It’s good to remember who Jesus was; he was born in a manger, he lived a sinless life, he did signs and wonders and he died on a cross to pay for our sin. That can’t be what we focus on though. Jesus was crucified and he was laid in a tomb, but on the third day Jesus was raised to life again. Our God wasn’t defeated at Calvary he finished his work there. Jesus was raised from the dead to conquer; conquer over hell, over death and the grave. All power was given to him because he won over all our enemies. When I think about my Jesus I don’t see a baby or a dead man I see a mighty God who can’t be defeated. I see a God who loved me so much that he gave his life so I could have hope. When I think of the love that God has for me and the sacrifice he made for me my faith reaches out to believe for the impossible. We need to see Jesus the way he is today. If you read in Revelation the first chapter you can see that Jesus isn’t that crucified lamb anymore, he is now that conquering savior. When you stand in the battle don’t think a baby is going to meet you there. When you stand in the battle an almighty God is right there to fight for you. We don’t stand alone in that valley; our God stands with us and he didn’t come to talk to our enemy, he came to do battle. So, today, if you are going into battle take a few moments and read Revelations 1: 12-18. Then realize just how mighty God is and then go after the devil with all you have. Remember Jesus has never been defeated and he never will. Let that be where you get your courage from.
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
